A three-year makeover in Ocean City High School, known for its Daytime Emmy®-winning local broadcast, wanted a look that would rival any local news affiliate. The control room is a state-of-the-art room with a Broadcast Pix switcher at the heart of the system. It includes a Black Magic 4K studio camera with an ENG lens attached and teleprompters, and a 15-foot jib crane with a 4K studio camera. The audio is being controlled by an Allen and Heath GLD80 and an integrated Dante card for feeds from their Auditorium.
The set design was broken into three sections. The main set has a platform with LED accent lighting and a modern round high table. The set backdrop is a custom curved backlit panel with a custom-curved LED video wall. The side set has three custom etched panels that are lit from behind. The platform has custom LED accent lighting and a horizontal display for interviews.
The third part is the greenscreen area. A custom-scooped floor was installed to offer a seamless look during the weather segment of production. Finally, LED studio lighting replaced the conventional lighting system. Not only did this space receive a major facelift, it is also GREEN.
